BATEAU BAY

Bateau Bay is about 6 km south of the town of The Entrance and 17 km northeast of Gosford’s central business district. Bateau Bay Beach provides access to Crackneck Point, which is a popular local surfing spot. Crackneck Point Lookout (about 100 metres above sea level) is a short distance from the beach, where there is a large clearing and carpark with information boards and a picnic-barbecue area.

Bateau Bay is home to several parks that facilitate all sports including rugby league, rugby union, soccer, Australian rules football, softball, baseball, and cricket as well as the Entrance District Sporting and Community Centre (EDSACC).

The Bateau Bay Recreation Centre (now known as the PCYC) offers tennis courts, indoor basketball courts, and a gymnasium,Educational facilities include the Bateau Bay Public School, Brooke Avenue Public School and Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College.

Bateau Bay is home to Bateau Bay Square, formerly known as Stockland Bay Village, a shopping centre formerly known as Bay Village. Major retailers include Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and K-mart. Free-standing McDonalds and Red Rooster restaurants are located on the shopping pad. A smaller centre, Cresthaven Shopping Centre, has an IGA, Brumby’s and Video Ezy. Several other clusters of shops are located throughout Bateau Bay.


COPACABANA

Copacabana is a suburb located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, as part of the City of Gosford’s local government area.

Copacabana is situated at the  northern end of Macmasters Beach, the two beaches divided by Cochrone Lagoon. The northern headland of Copacabana beach is Tudibaring Point.

Copacabana is a popular surfing and swimming beach on the Central Coast, and has a public primary school.


EMPIRE BAY

Empire Bay is a suburb on the Central Coast of New South Wales, Australia. It is part of the City of Gosford local government area.

Empire Bay was originally known as Sorrento being the name of a large boarding house in the locality.The name was changed to Empire Bay in 1908 when a Postal Receiving Office was opened in a building attached to the boarding house. The name was changed because there was already a post office named Sorrento in Victoria and Empire Bay was chosen because there was no other such name in the Commonwealth. The name was officially changed on 24 May 1908.

Empire Bay has the Empire Bay Public School and for the boating enthusiasts, the Empire Bay Marina.


GLENNING VALLEY

Glenning Valley is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, located between The Entrance and Wyong. It is part of the Wyong Shire local government area.


GREEN POINT

Green Point is a south-eastern suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales between Erina and Kincumber along Avoca Drive. It is part of the City of Gosford’s local government area.

The suburb contains a small shopping complex situated along Avoca Drive, with a BI-LO supermarket, butcher, grocer, newsagent and other stores. There is also an Aldi supermarket in a separate location. Much of Green Point is adjacent to Brisbane Water, providing water views to many residents.

The suburb contains one school, Green Point Christian College, which is one of the Central Coast’s many private schools.


HORSFIELD BAY

Horsfield Bay is a locality of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, 5 kilometres west of Woy Woy between Brisbane Water National Park and Woy Woy Inlet. It is part of the City of Gosford local government area.


KINCUMBER

Kincumber is a south-eastern suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, nested between the Kincumba Mountain Reserve and the local waterway and located 91 kilometres north of Sydney via the Sydney-Newcastle Freeway (M1). It is part of the City of Gosford local government area.

A nature reserve, Kincumba Mountain, is located within the suburb and is often used by the community for various functions, including picnicking, bush-walking, orienteering, parties, and carnivals.


KULNURA

Kulnura is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, located north of Mangrove Mountain along George Downes Drive. It is split between the City of Gosford and Wyong Shire local government areas.

Kulnura has a public school.

Its population of approximately 600 people rely mostly on the town’s fruit and cattle industries for income. It is also home to the biggest and catchment area on the Central Coast, Mangrove Creek Dam. It has a capacity of 190,000 ML and has a free tourist kiosk on the site. “Mangrove Mountain Bottlers Pty Ltd” bottle still water at their plant at Kulnura, as well as for private label mass-retailers, such as 7-11.

Kulnura has a General Store/Cafe/Petrol station and a bottle shop located just opposite Kulnura Hall.Kulnura’s One Stop convenience store is also a popular resting place for passing motorcyclists and tourists.

Every year Kulnura is host to the Bloodtree Festival, which is a celebration of life in the Mangrove Mountain area. It has been running for the past five years at Kulnura Oval, adjacent to Kulnura Hall.


LISAROW

Lisarow is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales located 8 kilometres north-northeast of Gosford’s central business district via the Pacific Highway. It is part of the City of Gosford local government area, and lies along its northern boundary.

It is a mainly residential area, with small rural properties on the fringes, and has its own station on the Newcastle to Sydney railway line.

The main shopping area is Lisarow Plaza, including a BI-LO supermarket, a bank, hairdresser, optometrist, medical centre, dentist, physiotherapy clinic, cafes, take-away food, restaurant, bakery, clothing and variety shops.The Test cricketer, Alan Davidson, hails from the town.

Educational facilities in the suburb include Lisarow High School, Lisarow Primary School and Narara Public School. It is a 5 minute drive to the Newcastle University Central Coast Campus in Ourimbah.

Lisarow shares the largest cricket club on the Central Coast with Ourimbah.


MACMASTERS BEACH

MacMasters Beach is a south-eastern suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia on the Bouddi Peninsula. It is part of the City of Gosford local government area. It was named after Alan MacMaster who held land in this area.


MANGROVE MOUNTAIN

Mangrove Mountain is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, located about 14 kilometres upstream and north of Spencer along Mangrove Creek. It is part of the City of Gosford local government area.

Mangrove Mountain is predominantly rural acreages.

It is home to Mangrove Mountain Memorial Golf Club, a 10 hole, 18 tee golf course.


MATCHAM

Matcham is a semi-rural suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, south-west of Bateau Bay. It is part of the City of Gosford’s local government area. It has a hall and historic church.


NARARA

Narara is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, located 4 kilometres north of Gosford’s central business district. It is part of the City of Gosford local government area.

The suburb is mostly residential and has its own railway station on the Central Coast & Newcastle Line. It also contains a corner shop and bottleshop, a number of parks, sporting grounds, and a concrete public skate park.

Educational facilities include Narara Valley High School, a NSW government public high school, and St Philips Christian College Gosford (formerly Gosford Christian College), a private Christian institution educating from kindergarten to year twelve.

Narara’s claim to fame is that the Narara Music Festival was held nearby in Somersby in 1983 and 1984. The Angels, an Australian rock band, produced an 11 track live album recorded at the festival named, appropriately enough, “Live at Narara”.


NORTH GOSFORD

Filled with restaurants and cafes this would have to be the centre point of activity in the region. Venture out and enjoy the nightlife as streets blossom with a lively atmosphere. Classy bars and clubs offer a convenient place to enjoy an evening out with friends. Easy access to public transport provides the best of both worlds. Enjoy the tranquility of living close to the hills, yet with public transport close enough to take you right into the heart of the city with ease. Local shops and supermarkets offer convenient shopping. The suburb also offers diverse living with ever changing streetscapes catering for both first home buyers right through to luxurious, up market living.


OURIMBAH

Ourimbah is a small township and a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, located about 78 kilometres north of the Sydney CBD. It is part of the Wyong Shire local government area.

It is a mainly residential area, with small rural properties on the fringes, and has it own station on the Newcastle to Sydney railway line.

The township consists of local shops and businesses along the Pacific Highway.

The University of Newcastle Central Coast campus, as well as the NSW Tafe and Central Coast Community College are located here.

Ourimbah shares the largest cricket club on the Central Coast with Lisarow, as well as having its own football club, The Ourimbah United.


POINT FREDERICK

Point Frederick is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia on a peninsula protruding into Brisbane Water 2 kilometres (1 mi) south-southeast of Gosford’s central business district. It is part of the City of Gosford’s local government area.

Point Frederick is one of the oldest areas on the Central Coast and is also home to Pioneer Park. Pioneer Park has great historical significance and hosts a graveyard in which various inhabitants of the point were buried long ago. Pioneer Park is also a popular outing place for tourists, and many families, to enjoy picnics. Rugby League is often played at the park by the local youth.


SHELLY BEACH

Shelly Beach is a coastal suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, located on a peninsula between Tuggerah Lake and the Pacific Ocean south of The Entrance. It is part of the Wyong Shire local government area. It is 66 km south of Newcastle & 93 km north of Sydney. Shelly Beach is considered one of the most popular surfing beaches on the Central Coast.

Shelly Beach Golf Club (Tuggerah Lakes) is an 18 hole golf course located at the eastern end of Shelly Beach Road, overlooking Shelly Beach.

Shelly Beach is also home to the Shelly Beach Surf Club and the Shelly Beach Fossils soccer club.


TOWOON BAY

Toowoon Bay is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, located on a peninsula between Tuggerah Lake and the Pacific Ocean south of The Entrance. It is part of the Wyong Shire local government area.

Toowoon Bay’s village centre lies at the intersection of Toowoon Bay Rd and Bay Rd (which is a tourist route to The Entrance). It encompasses a supermarket/general store, bakery, dry cleaners, burger shop, Newsagent/Post Office, dress shop, Cafe/restaurant, bottleshop, pharmacy, hairdresser, Doctor and a few other specialty stores.

The Toowoon Bay beach is located at the eastern end of Toowoon Bay Rd with access from Bay Road (250 metres south of the village intersection). The beach is patrolled by Wyong Shire Council Lifeguard’s during week days and lifesaver volunteers from the Toowoon Bay SLSC on weekends during summer. The Toowoon Bay SLSC is the centre of activities in Toowoon Bay and has a very strong local following. In 2005, the Toowoon Bay SLSC had a new clubhouse constructed.The closest shopping centres are Stockland Bay Village and Chittaway Shopping Court. Mingara has sporting complex and swimming pool and restaurant and is nearby Tumbi Umbi.

The beach is popular for family swimming and fishing, as the waves are small and the beach is protected from winds and strong currents. Sail boarding and kite surfing are popular out on the bay.

Toowoon Bay is serviced by The Entrance Red Bus Service with one route to The Entrance. The closest railway station is Tuggerah railway station which is serviced by the Central Coast & Newcastle Line.


WYOMING

Wyoming is a suburb of the Central Coast region of New South Wales, Australia, located 4 kilometres (2 mi) northeast of Gosford’s central business district. It is part of the City of Gosford local government area.

Many residential streets in the suburb are bordered by temperate-subtropical rainforest, with interesting bushwalking opportunities.
Educational facilities include Wyoming Public School and our Ladyof the Rosary Catholic Primary School.

Wyoming also has a medical centre, the Wyoming Shopping Village and a number of fast-food outlets, petrol stations and other shops.

Wyoming is home to the football (soccer) club Wyoming Tigers.
